Interactive survey & Data visualization

What's Your Type? - CMU Computational Creativity Lab

What's Your Type is an interactive web-based survey created by the Computational Creativity Lab at Carnegie Mellon University, and funded by the Frank-Ratchye STUDIO for Creative Inquiry at Carnegie Mellon University. The survey collects data on how designers and non-designers perceive the connotation of different typefaces. What's Your Type provides data visualization with insights on how respondents' choices compare to the crowd, which can be explored by filtering the language and location of respondents.

The experience

Visitors are asked to choose the best matching font for each of ten adjectives. After completing the survey, they receive a result page that visualizes the crowd's choices and allows them to see how their choices compare to those of others.

Future implementation

The survey provides valuable insights into how people interpret different typefaces, which can be useful for designers and marketers. By understanding how different typefaces are perceived, designers can make more informed choices when selecting fonts for their projects. Marketers can also use this information to ensure that their messaging is interpreted in the way they intend.
