Launching online & offline experiences for a new fitness service
SLEEK BOOST 2021
SLEEK BOOST is a fitness service for effective High Intensity Interval Training launched in April 2021 in Seoul, Korea. As a co-lead product designer, I designed online and offline experience and built visual identity that has been working for 2 years.

Designing experiences for SLEEK BOOST
What is SLEEK BOOST?
A fun and efficient, high-intensity group workout experience
Three screens on the front wall show workout videos, time, sets, pauses, and a station map. Switching stations following directions, people get to finish 8-12 workouts per session.
Timeline
For about one year, I designed two apps and two websites of various complexity and scale.

My three main contributions
One. Established the brand’s visual identity
I created key visual components of TV screen UIs when there was no brand strategy yet. Discussing with leadership and POs, I grasped that the vision was to provide people with correct fitness knowledge and elite athlete-level training through gamified workout experience. Based on that, I came up with the spaceship concept, which metaphors SLEEK BOOST as a training camp for elite astronauts. It developed the brand's visual identity and has been implemented in branding, including key graphics to signage in 20 branches.
Two. Designed a TV app for the in-studio experiences
I co-led designs of a TV application tied closely to in-studio experiences for SLEEK BOOST from scratch. In the process, the product design team visited sites and talked with trainers and the operating team to make sure the TV screen experience enhances the in-studio workout experience without disturbing it.

Three. Designed online experiences
I also designed two versions of SLEEK BOOST’s official website and a class booking mobile app, from scratch to launch.
For the app, we started by interviewing customers and other stakeholders to check needs and pain points other than required features in the PRD. We created an ideal state and communicated them with the direct and extended teams to list the main features considering the tight timelines.
Converting free trial users to paid members was one of the success metrics. However, creating an ideal state for a smooth user experience for conversion required lots of revision on the engineering team's end, which was not desirable for the business. As facilitators, the product design team listened to marketers and engineers to create a solution balancing some conflicting goals.

Learnings
The uncertain and fluctuating start-up environment taught me how to be flexible by reassessing goals and prioritizing tasks constantly and how to cope with the changes by actively communicating with partners and learning new things as we go.
Launching a new service in a small team enabled me to have a holistic viewpoint, proactively find the impact I can make, and compromise things for more important goals.
